Audio Midi Setup

Jan 13, 2014 Getting MIDI into Massive. If you're using Massive inside a DAW, you just need to monitor or record-enable the track which Massive is on. For standalone users, first go to File Audio and MIDI Settings, then click on the 'MIDI' tab. Switch on the MIDI input which your controller is plugged into.

Hey All!

MIDI Setup Window On Windows, all MIDI devices which are installed correctly on your system and appear in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties (Start Settings Sounds and Audio Devices) will be available to Max/MSP for MIDI I/O. Within the category of MIDI and audio sequencers for Windows you'll find software to work with synthesizers, drum boxes, virtual instruments and MIDI. The easiest way to produce sounds using MIDI is to use the MIDI sequencer built into your DAW software. As I said above, you can manually enter notes into your piano roll using just your mouse cursor within your DAW software and then adjust other settings within that afterward. But doing it this way is a long process and not very intuitive.

I've got a Mac Mini (Macmini8,1) where I have connected my iPhone XR to my Mac Mini via Lighting to USB. I open up the 'Audio Midi Setup' application compiled by Apple and the application see's my iPhone as an input. So I enable my iPhone as the input and then open up System Prefs to select my USB (or audio 3.5mm jack) as the output. I'm not hearing any audio from the iPhone source. However if I play audio from the macOS Apple Music application, audio plays just fine without issue.

Here is where things get interesting. I work for Panopto which is a software recording application / service that can record desktop audio and video as well as PowerPoint/Keynote and additional camera inputs. Panopto is actually able to pick up this audio if Panopto is recording. So this tells me that the audio from the iPhone is getting to the 'system audio', however it's not being routed from system to my headphones.

Can the Audio Midi Setup application be used to route audio from iPhone to my headphones plugged into the same Mac Mini?

**Edit**

The iPhone is recognizing the connection with MIDI as a Dock Connector. The same behavior is observed with any audio coming from iPhone, whether that be from YouTube, AppleMusic or even just iOS System Notifications. No audio is heard through my headphones.

Any help or guidance would be great! Thank you.
